Waving multi-layered fluid
This is an Asia-Oceania area’s innovation center of Air Liquide Corporation, which is developing its business worldwide. On the ground floor of the building, where people with various needs visits from all over the world, there is a showroom, exhibiting past technologies to the future possibilities, and an event site. There is a Tanada (step-like paddy field) shaped well hole from the ground floor through whole building that is designed to give new findings and uplifting feelings to the visitors. With this spirally arranged well hole, you are able to catch glimpse of activities throughout the building from wherever you are. it also makes this stretched east and west building look shorter, which enhances co-operations of each sections.
Workers of the company gather is this building from all over the world and work on all the way from subject extraction, research, development to the application. Therefore it is arranged for their works to be conducted efficiently and functions ideally. It is aimed to give a energetic environment by reflecting variety of characteristics in the space.
The building site is located in the middle of the Miura Peninsula. This is an area of small hills with strong land and sea breeze, therefore, with the co-operations of Professor Nakano from Tokai University, we have observed thermal environment and movements of the wind using weather data measuring device. With this data, we have groped for the best structure in this environment which can turn aside the effect of strong land and sea breeze. As a result, we have ended up with this laminated curved façade with an interwoven belt spreading radically that also incorporates and shows the client’s wish of creating the wave of innovation from this land to the world.
