Creating a magnetic field of energy for the innovation
The client planned an innovation creation base with the theme of expressing the accumulated technology, voluntary cooperation across fields, and fostering an innovation culture for employees. The client positioned the project as a creation of the base for a flexible co-creation culture with the researchers involvement, rather than just a framework process of simply asking the design office to complete the construction. Thus asked Planus to be a design and co-creation partner.
After the project had begun, the Planus team held a number of workshops, mainly as listed below, to confirm the direction with everyone involved in order to actively share the experience of creating together with users other than client project members.

Not only during the design process but also during the construction, we have repeated the above workshops with the users and improve their understanding of the details of the spatial prototype, while at the same time instilling a co-creation culture with companies in completely different fields like Planus.
This facility was created with the aim of creating a place where the issues and technologies inside and outside the company are rolled up and tied together like a whirlpool, transcending the boundaries of companies and organizations, and through which thoughts and creations can be circulated together. At the center of the whirlpool, a third place, that is neither a lab nor an office is set up, and this is where the people with strong co-creative energy can gather.
Just as the "vortex" that fills the universe is the "magnetic field" that carries various planets, we believe creating a culture (vortex) that fills the building through this project will move the human heart (planet), resulting in a source of innovation which will lead to co-creation and challenges.
It is the first research facility with a chemical lab which certified “ZEB Ready” in Japan.
While maintaining a comfortable indoor environment, we have achieved significant energy savings through the use of passive technology, highly efficient equipment systems, and highly insulating building exteriors.
